Policy
Punctuality
Please arrive a bit early to get settled in, as the
teacher will begin on time. Late arrivals will be accepted occasionally
but frequent lateness may result in your being asked to move to
another class which better suits your schedule. Please move out
into the common areas promptly once the lesson is over to make way
for the next class and don't forget your things!
Attendance
Regular attendance is extremely important for success.
Notification of inability to attend a lesson is courtesy to the
teacher but does not excuse tuition payment.
Missed
Lessons
Regular attendance is expected. Students are charged for all lessons for which they enroll, including those missed due to student absence. No refunds will be issued or credited for missed lessons. If you decide to make-up the lesson privately, you will be charged for that lesson in addition to the missed lesson, as the teacher must be paid for the time spent on both classes. Make-up lessons must be arranged with the individual teacher and should in no way be considered guaranteed. Please give the Music Stream Center teacher or office (MSC) at least 24 hours notice that the lesson will be missed. In case of sickness or emergencies, every attempt will be made to accommodate the student's needs.
If the student is going to miss class and he/she notifies MSC the day before (in case of sickness or emergency, lets MSC know before the class), a 30-minute computer lab session can be scheduled as a make-up class. If the student did not come to class and did not notify MSC before the class, the missed class will not be made-up.
Teacher's
Appointments
Teachers
have to gather materials and thoughts before the class and will
not be available for consultation at that time. Please email your
questions and concerns to your teacher. The teachers will email
answers to you as soon as possible or contact you by phone. If you
wish to speak at length to a teacher, please make an appointment.
Parental
Attendance
Parents or caregivers are required to attend class
with the students. This aids at-home follow-up and creates a sharing
attitude, which will greatly enhance the child's musical experience.
If you have two older children booked for back-to-back lessons one
can wait in the reception area and do homework or read quietly.
Make sure they are aware of their limits in terms of leaving the
premises or visiting the shops.
Guests
Both parents may attend lessons together. If an adult
relative wishes to accompany the family for one class, he or she
should be introduced to the teacher before class to determine if
it is appropriate for the lesson plan. Other children cannot be
accommodated in the classroom. Your child needs your full attention
and a crying or wandering baby disrupts the class for everyone.
As this is a new class center we may occasionally have corporate
observers and new teachers may attend part or all of selected classes.
This will be done in a way which is appropriate to the lesson plan
and which will cause as little disruption as possible.
Termination of class
Each student who enrolls in the MSC makes a commitment for the entire year or semester. Thus, the termination of class is appropriate only at the end of the school year. If an exception to this policy is necessary, a one-month notice from the student or parent must be submitted.
